  • Sophie Diep President for Colors of Joy

    Sophia Diep | President

Hello!! I’m Sophia, the current president of Colors of Joy, a student-led initiative that brings joy to seniors through art and handwritten cards. I love trying new foods and drinking matcha, but what truly inspires me is sharing creativity and kindness with others. This year, my goal is to expand our reach and create more moments of connection and warmth between students and seniors because that is something that genuinely matters to me in life, community and compassion.

Hi! I’m Bharat, someone who finds peace in charcoal sketches, energy in creative chaos, and joy in a good cup of boba. I believe creativity is one of the most powerful tools for compassion. In the past, I’ve organized art workshops for youth experiencing homelessness, and I’m now excited to bring that same spirit to Colors of Joy, helping spread kindness and connection to seniors through handwritten cards and art. This year, I’m looking forward to growing our team, launching new initiatives, and creating more moments filled with color and community.

  • Justin Chen | he/him | Founder, Senior Advisor for Colors of Joy

Justin Chen | he/him | Founder, Senior Advisor | Columbia University

Hi! I’m Justin, the founder, and creator of Colors of Joy, a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting our impacted community through art. Having seen the positive impact that my own art has made on my friends and family, I wanted to create a way to spread that joy to others. The isolation that many seniors and those in long-term care faced, especially during the peak of the COVID pandemic is something that is often overseen and art was a platform I saw to help these people. With this organization. I hope to bring positive change and joy through Artful Transformations, One Piece at a Time! I’m excited to see where the new board takes this organization next!
